SERVICES > Physician Giving
Objective: Diverse physician giving constituencies within each organization continue to evolve, resulting in the need for ongoing changes in development strategies and techniques. Physicians individually and collectively are influential community leaders, so this service effectively engages these individuals in the fundraising efforts and generates increased revenue. It also sends a proactive and positive message to the constituencies served by the organization.
Elements of the Service
- Identification, recruitment and training of physician leadership to involve each organization's multiple internal and external physician constituencies (private practice, hospitalists, retirees, etc.)
- Coordinate the physician giving program within the organization's current giving structures and recognition initiatives including multi-level physician donor recognition programs that create incentives to give at higher levels
- Materials and "best practices" samples from organizations that have successfully involved physicians in prospect cultivation (providing structure for clinically-based grateful patient initiatives) and physician solicitation efforts
- Program direction to physician leadership and development staff that results in increased numbers of physician donors and dollars
- Structure physician giving program that effectively evolves alongside the changing, sometimes fragile physician-healthcare organization relationships
Expected Outcome
Success with physician donors not only generates substantial levels of gift income, but more importantly helps demonstrate confidence to other potential donors that the physicians endorse and support the organization. Physicians with diverse interests and different internal and external constituencies become increasingly engaged in both cultivation and solicitation initiatives. Enhanced internal communication through these physician giving techniques and strategies expands the overall visibility of the need and projects, thus enhancing the organization's ability to generate development funds.
